Behavioral health in the United States is fragmented. Patients struggle to access timely treatment as symptoms and conditions worsen. Once in care, providers lack adequate tools to effectively coordinate care and measure progress, which drives up costs, strains providers, and leaves patients behind.
Trayt Health is a patient-centric, clinician-directed technology platform that helps improve workflows, data, and insights to deliver personalized, evidence-based care. This allows programs and providers to implement whole patient, early intervention care. To date, Trayt Health’s platform is used by over 30,000 providers across 24+ leading health systems in 7 states, treating more than 175,000 patients.
Building a better behavioral health system
Trayt Health was founded by Malekeh Amini with a vision to enable the right treatments, at the right times, wherever the patients are. Drawing on her experience observing the behavioral health care system up close, she set out to build a software platform that addresses the challenges of seeking out and delivering care from a fragmented medical and behavioral health care system.

She joined forces with Dr. Carl Feinstein, a clinical professor of neuroscience and psychiatry at UC Riverside School of Medicine, and Director of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Stanford University. Dr. Feinstein had dedicated his life to improving care and outcomes in behavioral health, and saw Amini’s vision in Trayt Health as essential to the future of care.
“A multi-factorial (multi-dimensional) approach was needed to address the complexity, and clinicians did not have the tools for that. We knew technology would play a vital role in creating a multi-dimensional and personalized approach to assessing and treating behavioral health patients,” said Amini, who serves as Trayt Health’s Founder & CEO. “We needed to design a system that was structured around patients and the providers who cared for them in order to improve outcomes, and consequently, reduce cost of care across the ecosystem.”
The result was Trayt Health, a patient-centric, clinician-directed platform that reflected Amini’s vision of helping providers enable the right treatments, at the right time, wherever the patients are.
Trayt Health launched its first statewide partnership in Texas, supporting several programs for the Texas Child Mental Health Care Consortium. Since then, Trayt Health has become the incumbent platform of behavioral health programs across the country, being recognized as a leader in accelerating treatment from access to intervention.
Four pillars for coordinated, whole-patient care
To mark 10+-years since Trayt Health was founded, the company is redefining its position within the behavioral health technology space.
At the center are four foundational pillars: consultation, intervention, measurement, and insights. This speaks to Trayt Health’s end-to-end platform that brings PCPs and behavioral health providers closer together to treat patients sooner, avoid costly interventions, and improve outcomes.
Measurement-informed psychiatric consultation allows behavioral health state programs to engage PCPs by integrating psychiatric hubs within primary care. PCPs can utilize Trayt Health to initiate, track, and learn from consults, allowing them to better treat patients.
The platform also gives PCPs the ability to connect patients with behavioral health providers through measurement-informed intervention. PCPs can refer patients for care coordination through specialized Trayt Health referral workflows that assess eligibility, gain consent, and share information.
Trayt Health’s approach expands and enhances measurement-based care by integrating social determinants and symptom-level journaling with standardized screeners that bring data into everyday clinical care. This is collected through the MyndMap patient and caregiver app, which supports continuous data entry that is accessible to behavioral health providers through Trayt 360.
Every data point and interaction is tracked and analyzed through measurement, giving program leadership granular patient and program-level data to report on program quality, utilization, and patient health outcomes.
The platform tracks 750 different symptoms and factors to generate insights that are curated from screener, medication, and other treatment data to implement accurate, evidenced-based treatment and risk assessment models.
“I have dedicated my life to helping kids and families. Trayt Health is my biggest accomplishment because we give patients and caregivers tools that put them at the center of their care,” said co-founder Carl Feinstein, who serves as Trayt Health’s Chief Medical Officer. “We utilize technology to bring vital patient and caregiver data directly to behavioral health providers, which in-turn empowers providers to deliver the right treatments, sooner.”
