Meet Jesse Schnall, MBBS, MPH – Trayt’s Medical Director

Trayt Health is pleased to welcome Dr. Jesse Schnall to its executive leadership team, where he will serve as Medical Director. Dr. Schnall is a medical doctor from Melbourne, Australia, with a broad range of interests across bioethics, health policy and the overlap of mental health and public health.

During his medical studies, he worked in health data analytics with Quantium Health Outcomes, interned at the World Health Organization Office at the United Nations, and studied moral and political philosophy as a visiting student at the University of Oxford. He has authored over 20 articles across peer-reviewed academic journals, think tanks and mainstream media, including BMC MedicineThe Medical Journal of Australia, and The American Journal of Bioethics. He has also advocated for greater research into novel therapeutics for mental illness as co-author of a landmark international policy report on psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy.

As an undergraduate, Dr. Schnall led Monash University’s official academic mentorship program for medical students, and volunteered as a mentor and tutor with Stand Up (an Australian social justice organization working with refugee and First Nation communities). Dr. Schnall received a General Sir John Monash Scholarship and a Frank Knox Memorial Fellowship to undertake a Master of Public Health at Harvard University’s Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, with a specific focus on mental healthcare and health policy. In his spare time, Jesse enjoys photography and philosophy, and is currently completing a Master of Bioethics at Monash University.

Dr. Schnall commenced his medical residency at Austin Health in Melbourne, served as a Board Director at ClimateForce, and worked at McKinsey & Company prior to joining Trayt.Health.
